Bimota Logo History

Share

Bimota was founded in 1983 by Valerio Bianchi, Giuseppe Morri, and Massimo Tamburini - the name a portmanteau the first two letters of each founders last name - Bi anchi Mo rri Ta mburini - Bimota.

The Bimota logo is a distinctive design that has been used by the company since 1981, it was designed by Massimo Tamburini who was also the lead motorcycle designer. The logo was first used with the DB1 and has not changed much since, you can see the variations below.

It is believed that Bimota is the first logo used by a motorcycle manufacturer to use the letter "b" as it's central element. It is also believed that Massimo Tamburini influenced the design of Ducati logos during his time there after Bimota when Ducati was owned by Cagiva.
