The 2006 KTM 950 Supermoto Black
2006 KTM 950 Supermoto Black marks the first year of KTM's big-bore supermoto experiment, a machine that took the brand's dirt-focused V-twin know-how and pointed it squarely at paved backroads and track days. This is a tall, narrow, top-heavy-feeling bike until it's moving, at which point the long travel suspension and aggressive geometry let you throw it into corners with a kind of recklessness that smaller supermotos can't match. The V-twin pulls hard from low revs, so you're rarely hunting for the right gear, and the riding position rewards an upright, confrontational stance rather than a tucked-in sportbike crouch. Expect a firm ride and a bike that wants to be ridden hard rather than commuted on gently. As a debut-year model, the 2006 KTM 950 Supermoto Black carried over without significant mechanical changes from the prior year, since there was no prior year to compare against. Buyers tend to be experienced riders moving on from standard sportbikes or smaller supermotos who want more torque and presence, plus a smaller group of KTM collectors drawn to first-year production examples with clean service records.
