2000 BMW K 1200 RS

2000 BMW K 1200 RS sits near the top of BMW's touring range, the fully-faired flagship built for riders who want to cover serious distance without giving up sport-bike urgency. The inline-four engine, laid on its side under that long fairing, pulls hard and smooth from low RPM all the way through the top end, making triple-digit autobahn cruising feel routine rather than stressful. Handling is stable rather than flickable — this is a bike that rewards sweeping roads and all-day saddle time over tight canyon carving, and the low seat height keeps it approachable despite its bulk. The 2000 model carried over without significant mechanical changes from the prior year — buyers comparing it to a 1999 example should focus on mileage, service history, and condition rather than spec differences. Typical buyers are experienced riders in their 40s and up, often moving down from a full dresser or up from a naked standard, who want a serious mile-eater with weather protection and long-haul comfort. Collector interest remains low, so these get bought to be ridden hard on real trips, not tucked away in a garage.
