Saroléa

Saroléa's motorcycle story began with its establishment as an arms factory in Belgium's Liège region in 1850. Joseph Saroléa's death in 1894 ushered in a new era of growth and innovation under his sons' leadership. In 1901, Saroléa's engineers embarked on a groundbreaking project to attach a 1.5 HP 247cc petrol engine to a bicycle, giving birth to Saroléa's first motorcycle. Success in competitions soon followed, with remarkable achievements in speed championships, races, and more.

Saroléa's efforts in the early 1900s were marked by relentless innovation. The development of powerful models, the expansion of production facilities, and their reputation as the oldest active motorcycle manufacturer all contributed to their status as an industry leader.

The 1920s were a golden era for Saroléa, with numerous victories and medals in various competitions. With the factory producing up to 75 machines a day, the brand solidified its performance aspirations and commitment to racing.

Despite the global economic downturn in the 1930s, Saroléa continued to thrive, introducing sportbikes, touring machines, and even dirt-track machines. Their participation in motocross competitions expanded, with notable victories on various tracks.

World War II almost halted Saroléa's production, but they managed to adapt and gradually restart production after the war. Continued success in competitions and innovative models like the 125cc Oiseau Bleu demonstrated resilience and adaptability.

The post-war era brought new opportunities and challenges. Saroléa's growth in sales, continuous racing success, and the introduction of new models reflected the brand's commitment to excellence. However, they faced unexpected hurdles with some designs not delivering as anticipated.
