Tecnomoto

Tecnomoto, an Italian motorcycle company, had a relatively brief but notable existence in the world of motorcycle manufacturing. The company was established in 1968 in Vignola, near Modena, Italy, by brothers Vittoriano and Giancarlo Pellegrini. Tecnomoto specialized in producing motorcycles for young riders and those interested in lightweight sportsbikes.

In its early days, Tecnomoto focused on manufacturing a range of motorcycles suited for children, including mini bikes, fun bikes, and models referred to as "Sixteeners." This initial product line aimed at a younger audience set Tecnomoto apart in the market. However, by the early 1970s, the company progressed to developing its own lightweight frames. These frames incorporated Minarelli engines, a popular choice for small-displacement motorcycles of that era. The use of these engines allowed Tecnomoto to produce streamlined, attractive models, such as the Squalo, which became a signature model for the company.

Tecnomoto's product range included models like the Paciugo, Paciughino, and the Mistralino TM 80 and TM 50, all of which were equipped with Minarelli 50 cc engines. These models, particularly the Squalo, were known for their aesthetic appeal and functionality, catering to both young riders and those interested in lightweight sportsbikes.

Despite the initial success and the development of unique models, Tecnomoto's journey in the motorcycle industry was short-lived. The company ceased operations in 1979, just over a decade after it was founded. This relatively brief period of activity, however, left a mark in the Italian motorcycle industry, particularly in the niche of lightweight and youth-oriented motorcycles.
